My Daily Winter Skincare Routine

In case you haven’t noticed, I am a skincare junkie. I am happy to try out just about anything on my skin. Plus, people like you, need people like me to give you honest reviews on the many skincare products out there. I would never review a product here I have not tried on my own skin.

I have been getting replies to my Instagram stories and my Snapchat about some of the products I share. So I thought it would be super helpful to just detail my current winter skincare routine in a post. I’m always switching products and trying new things. For the most part I like to stick to one routine for an entire month. This way I can see how my skin reacts and how the products actually work (or don’t work). Here’s a breakdown of my current winter skincare routine:

Morning Skincare Routine

I’m not one to do my skincare routine in the shower. In the morning, however, it’s best for me to kill two birds with one stone. Since I am a morning person, I wake up pretty early, so I am able to dedicate at least 20 minutes to my skincare routine. To gently cleanse my face I use Fresh Soy Face Cleanser while I’m in the shower. I love the texture and scent of this cleanser and it’s so gentle on my skin.  As soon I finish showering, I spritz my face with Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray on my already damp skin then apply my serum. Right now I’m using Clarins Brightening Serum to help me get rid of dark spots I had from a few pimples that decided to make an appearance a couple of weeks ago. However, my go-to serum for winter is the Avene Hydrance Serum that I picked up in Paris (we have it here but bought it in Europe for obvious reasons). It’s enriched with glycerin and hydrates extremely dry skin.

After I apply my serum, I apply my day cream which is currently Dr. Haushcka Revitalizing Day Cream that my dear skincare friend in crime, Bart of InHautePursuit put me onto. I love it because it has a super light-weight formula and gives me an instant dewy glow. After massaging my day cream in, I follow-up with my eye cream which is the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream, followed by my sunscreen. I never, ever, skip this step. No matter how gloomy it is outside, sunscreen is very important. My go-to sunscreen is Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 by Josie Maran which I love, and have been using for about over a year. It’s a little pricey but it works. Here’s a tip: One pump of this stuff goes a very long way. After my sunscreen I dive into my makeup routine which we’ll talk about another time.

Evening Skincare Routine

During the week, I try to keep my evening winter skincare routine as quick and efficient as possible. If I wore makeup that day, I would use a makeup cleansing wipe or Bioderma to remove my makeup. I know some people would stop right there, but me, nope, the show must go on. It is true makeup removers remove makeup and many tout that it also cleanses your skin, but I always need to double cleanse. In other words: Follow-up with an actual skin cleanser after using a makeup remover.

Before hopping into the shower or while in shower, I cleanse with a soapy cleanser to remove anything my makeup remover missed. I’m currently using Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash (review coming soon). Post cleanse, I apply my rose water spray, then apply a bit of Sunday Riley Tidal Cream which I talked a bit about here. It’s doing a great job at hydrating and brightening my skin. I lock in the moisture from the cream with Tarte Maracuja Oil and hit the sheets.

There you have it! My simple and effective winter skincare routine. Stay tuned for my super-detailed Sunday skincare routine. (Yup, it’s a process.) Also, check out how I’m able to even have time to focus on my skin in the mornings thanks to my morning routine and what body scrub is saving my dry winter skin
